As children, I remember asking the “why” question often. Mom would request something and our response, ‘why?’ Dad would require something and our response, ‘why?’ My dad actually even found and bought a fridge magnet which said, ‘I’m the daddy, that’s why!”
Why does the Lord lead us in paths of righteousness? It’s for His names sake. Its for His glory. It’s for His fame.
As sheep require to be led, and not herded, it would seem to me that this portion of scripture is a reminder for us to continually seek to follow the Lord and to submit to his leading us on the right paths. In His timing and in His way. What a reassurance that we don’t have to brave it on our own, and we don’t even need to find our own way. All we need to do is trust in our Father and follow the leading of our good shepherd, for His glory.
