You have shown me the way of life, and you will fill me with the joy of your presence. -Acts 2:28-
Lysa TerKeurst wrote: ‘ Jesus doesn’t participate in the rat race. He’s into the slower rhythms of life, like abiding, delighting, and dwelling – all words that require us to trust Him with our place and our pace.’
The matrics at our daughter’s school exhibited their final artwork this week. One in particular impacted our girl and was a masterpiece honouring our Creator. A basket on the table held a pile of strips of paper and a note beside it encouraged every visitor to help themself to one. The note included: what is God saying to you?
My daughter unravelled the strip of paper she had chosen, and this is what it read: Proverbs 3:5&6 – Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
One of my favourite scriptures!
Then, as I read through this passage of Acts 2 and got to verse 28 and was reminded of these words written by Lysa, my heart connected these dots. His way of life is abiding, delighting, and dwelling, which requires us to trust him and not revert back to what we know and understand. His way of life calls us to ‘trust him with our place and our pace’, and he will fill us with the joy of his presence.
