Reading / Writing Plans

October 2025 – Hope

I don’t usually do a topic related reading plan, as I love the fullness and depth of understanding that comes when you read a Book of the Bible in its entirety, but this month, I’d like to focus on HOPE.

Also, it’s been 3 years this month since I started putting these reading plans together. Praise the Lord 🙌🏻

Enjoy it!

September 2025 – Ecclesiastes

You may have noticed that we skipped a beat as the end of July rolled in, and August is now officially rolling out! 2025 has been absolutely beautiful but not in the way that I had planned it to be. The heartache, the disappointment and the weight of many life happenings that have jumped at us this year have, on some days, made things an absolute blur again. On the other hand, the growth in the organisation I lead, the personal revelations God’s been unravelling and the clarity around some areas in our lives has been absolutely beautiful! He {God} makes all things beautiful in it’s time. Ecclesiastes 3:11

Enjoy the depth of Ecclesiastes this month.

July 2025 – Jeremiah – Part 2

We are now on the downward slope towards Christmas – as crazy as that sounds!
Enjoy the second part of reading through Jeremiah.
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.”

-Chapter 33:3-

June 2025 – Jeremiah – Part 1
The sixth month of the year is upon us!
Enjoy diving into the book of Jeremiah. ” Though at first Jeremiah hesitated when God called him, he surrendered to the Lord and became
one of history’s most decisive spiritual leaders. Tragically, however, the people who most needed his leadership rejected him and turned their backs on God’s Word.” W. Wiersbe.
May this month be the one where you don’t turn your back on God’s word, but rather turn towards it.

May 2025 – 2 Samuel –

May day may day, it’s the month of May! I cannot actually believe that a third of 2025 is over. Gone. Never to be lived again. Reflecting on the reality of how quickly time flies by makes it even more important to feed our hearts and souls with the Word of God. May He speak, encourage, challenge and excite you as you read through the book of 2 Samuel this month.

April 2025 – 1 Samuel –
Another month, another opportunity to feed our souls with the word of God. March was mad for us, so here’s to an Awesome April for you and me!
Enjoy diving into 1 Samuel, and you guessed it, 2 Samuel is on it’s way for May.

March 2025 – Esther –
Finally here is the reading plan for March. February was a full month including celebrations and curve balls, and we’re here for it all!
I so appreciate and resonate with the message & purpose the She Reads Truth Bible gives of this beautiful little book of Esther: “For the Jewish people scattered around the Persian Empire, the book of Esther was a story that gave encouragement and hope. It provided a model of how Jewish people could not just survive, but thrive in a Gentile environment. It displayed the work of God, evident but unseen, in the unfolding story of deliverance and redemption – making an orphan girl the queen and using her courage and influence to save the Jews from annihilation.”
Enjoy tucking into this little gem this month!

February 2025 – Matthew – Part 2
My favourite month of the year purely because its my birthday month! There’s something about celebrating that is entrenched deep within me, and that I love to do! I love celebrating, I love taking moments to be grateful, I love marking moments with memories, I love being alive! Celebration and parties are often something that children, well actually their parents, and more particularly their moms, often create space for. I remember as a mom of a young toddler, then a pre-schooler, that many weekends, or even afternoons during the week, were spent at birthday parties. I loved planning and putting together celebrations for our daughter, and still enjoy making birthdays special!
A scripture we will read this month goes like this:
“Truly I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3
I don’t believe this is saying have more parties, but I do believe that having a child-like faith is an element of our walking with Jesus that we could adopt and grow in more and more. Michael Eaton writes on these verses and comments that Children don’t know much about life – they take life as it comes and learn as they go. They also don’t have much power – they have to do as they are told. …..The particular change that is required is to become childlike, open to whatever God puts before us knowing our own powerlessness. It is this deliberate self-humbling that will lead to the blessings of the kingdom of God. The more we are childlike in this way, the greater we are in the kingdom of God.
Enjoy reading the rest of the book of Matthew this month, celebrate moments, and may we trust Jesus more each day!

January 2025 – Matthew – Part 1
A scripture we all know really well, and one perhaps not often thought of as we go into a new year is found in chapter 11 and verse 29 of Matthew.
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle & lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls.”
As you say goodbye to 2024, and begin 2025, why don’t you place yourself alongside Jesus in his yoke. Open your heart and mind to learn the rhythms of his way of living. He is gently and lowly, not forceful and demanding and perhaps the year ahead will be full of peace. Perhaps your soul will find the rest its really looking for – and that is found in Jesus himself!

December 2024 – Luke / Advent –
Expectation growing, space in our hearts opening, celebrating Jesus loading.
Make room in your hearts for Jesus this advent season.

November 2024 – 2 Timothy.
The second Pastoral Epistle writted by Paul to Timothy. Note in verse 2 how Paul addresses Timothy by name. God knows you by name too.
Enjoy these 4 short chapters of this wonderful book!

October 2024 – 1 Timothy
One of the Pastoral Epistles penned by Paul as part of his “latter-day instruction to two churches and colleagues.” notes Michael Eaton.
Enjoy the truth of these words as you read!

September 2024 – Ezra
A small little book, packed with power! Enjoy this adventure as the Israelites rebuild the temple.

August 2024 – Proverbs.
The book of Proverbs is one we can read and re-read over and over again. In fact many years ago, someone suggested to read one chapter of Proverbs every single day. It is known for its gems on wisdom – so it’s not a bad idea to keep it close. One of my favourite scriptures is found in this book – Proverbs 3: 5 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. – Sometimes it’s hard to exchange our thoughts & understandings and logic and just lean into the Lord with all of us. But it’s so so worth it! Enjoy this book! Enjoy the gems you find! Enjoy being in God’s word!

July 2024 – Joshua – part two.

Here’s the second half of the book of Joshua. I do love the scripture in chapter 24:15- “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Enjoy it!

June 2024 – Joshua – part one.
I love what Eugene Peterson wrote about this book: “Joshua lays a firm foundation for a life that is grounded.” Enjoy the next 2 months of reading it day by day.

May 2024 – Ruth –
The beautiful story of redemption. Enjoy it!

April 2024 – The Psalms –
As I’ve reflected on the amazing Easter season and all it means for me, I found myself responding in praise and prayer. And so I felt led to prepare a month through the Psalms – the prayer book of the Bible, and possibly also the song book of the Bible. So join me on a journey of responding to the finished work of Christ with praise!

March 2024 – Thessalonians 1 & 2 –
Another new month of 2024. Gosh nearly a 1/4 of the way through this year already! How exciting that we get to keep reading and discovering the person of Jesus through the gift if His word to us.

February 2024 – Colossians –
My favourite month of the year – my birthday month! Always love the feel of February and the settled in state I find myself in this Feb! Our church are running a preaching series through the book of Colossians this year and so I decided to choose this book for this months reading plan. Yes I know it starts on 5 Feb, thats because on 31 January I realised that February was starting the next day. And settling my daughter in high school. And a crazy busy January. And a new rhythm at work. And so it’s only ready today. Forgive me while you enjoy reading these pages written to the church at Colossae and keep looking up! (Col 3: 1&2)

January 2024 – John –
A new year. A new chance to read the word every day! The book of John is always a great place to start and Michael Eaton notes that “The Gospel of John is perhaps the most amazing book ever written!” Enjoy the words of this book and may you abide with Christ more and more this year!

December 2023 – Luke –
I once came across this fantastic idea – reading through the book of Luke during December – one chapter a day from 1 – 24 December – and waking up on Christmas morning with a clear understanding of the life Jesus lived and died for you and for me.
This Christmas season, why don’t you join me in this adventure!

August 2023 – Ephesians –
This is what Michael Eaton had to say about this book:

“The letter was intended for a wide readership and as a totality may surely be the grandest survey ever to be written of the ‘length & breadth & height & depth’ of salvation, and it’s consequences in daily life. We should meditate on it day & night until it becomes part of our very being.” Michael Eaton – The Branch

Enjoy reading friends!

July 2023 – Galatians-
A beautiful book reminding us of the freedom we have and encouraging us to stand firm in that freedom!

June 2023 – Romans Part 2 –
Here is part 2 of the book of Romans.
I trust you will enjoy the words of these final chapters of this book.

May 2023 – Romans Part 1 –
The gospel is the greatest gift of all! As you read Romans, may you be encouraged to live free as the gospel enables. If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
I have divided this book to read over two months, so savour, enjoy and nourish yourself with these words.

April 2023- Colossians-
A beautiful book in the New testament about the greatness of Christ. Read it with open hearts and open minds to what could be revealed to you through the Holy Spirit. Enjoy it. Feast on it. Fall in love with Jesus.

March 2023 – Philippians –
Our church community are busy reading through the book of Philippians and it has encouraged me and given me great JOY to read, discuss and make every effort to live out the truths in these verses, and so it is the perfect book to share with you all and to encourage you to read through for the month of March.
May you know that, “I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Chapter 1 vs 6. Enjoy reading the word!
