7,5 months. 1 book.

As a Jesus loving, Bible Reading girl I have always enjoyed being guided by a reading plan to structure my daily reading of God’s word. Over the many years of following Christ, I have used devotional books, online plans, read and followed reading plans with friends and family, and have absolutely loved every one of them.

In September last year while browsing the world of instagram I came across the concept of a writing plan. Yes a scripture writing plan. At first my mind was like, “ how can I read a plan AND write a plan. I often am not even able to keep up with a reading plan, now to write out scripture aswell!! How on earth am I going to manage this? “ But God was drawing me into taking on this new challenge and each time I tried to dismiss it, he gently, lovingly, kindly encouraged me to give it a try. And so I did!

This wonderful instagram page @proverbs_31life post scripture WRITING plans covering a range of topics each month. I jumped all in last October and decided I would follow two topics per month and have done so for the last 7,5 months.

It has been the most beautiful journey. God’s words have spoken to the depths of my soul. As I have written out the scriptures set out for that day, they have been the ones I’ve needed to read, to hear, to write and to dwell on. God has encouraged, challenged, amazed and overwhelmed me as I have set out to accept his challenge and write out his word.

This morning as I was writing out today’s verses, I realised I have one page left of the journal I started this journey in. It hasn’t been the perfect adventure. I have missed some days, I have spent days catching up a weeks worth of scripture writing, I have even peeked ahead at tomorrow’s list, but I have enjoyed this process so so much! I did not think I would be able to do this, and here am I with one page of one book left after 7,5 months of writing.

For those wondering, I still follow a reading plan and at the moment am doing this with a group of ladies who are dedicated to being in the word of God daily. Do we always get to it, no! Do we always complete a reading plan on time, no! Do we have families and lives and jobs and serving avenues and friends that distract us from reading some days, yes! Do we keep going and choose not to give up, YES!!!

The Bible is a beautiful gift to us. God has truly given us everything we need for life and godliness within these pages. I don’t know if you know this book or know the main character of its writings, but his name is Jesus. Read about him, learn about him, fall in love with him and choose to follow him. It will be the best decision you ever make. When you read the Bible, you honestly make the choice to read for a living!
