This is such a significant day on my calendar. Firstly it is a day to celebrate one of the greatest gifts I have been blessed with- the title of mom- as I very nearly did not get to live out the privilege of this! And secondly, it’s a day to be thankful – for a healthy daughter, for the opportunity to be a mom, and for life!
If I’m completely honest, parenting is the most glorious and most difficult journey I’ve walked. There are moments of highs and moments of lows. There is ecstatic joy and heartbreaking sorrow. Peace fills the moments, and fear and uncertainty appear out of nowhere. I resonate with the Bible as a parent, when it writes “For we live by faith, not by sight.” in 2 Corinthians 5:7. Parenting is a walk of faith. To be trusted and gifted with a life to steward. To have the responsibility of raising a disciple for Jesus. To equip and train up another human to change the world one act of kindness at a time and to leave a legacy through their lives is a humbling responsibility. It’s an exciting adventure. It’s a painful process. The rewards are beyond great. The moments beyond belief. The memories beyond precious. It’s a gift beyond expression. But sometimes I’m not sure which step to take next or which way to turn or how to respond. It really is a walk of trusting my Heavenly Father, taking His Hand and surrendering to His ways as He leads me on the road of mothering.
For the moms reading this:
•Be you
Your kids need you as their mom, not you trying to be somebody else
•Be kind
To yourself and your family
•Be present
Enjoy the moments together and make the memories
Part of my card gifted to me this morning from my miracle child reads “You are the one and only kindest person in the univers!” (Yes that’s how it was spelt) and to you moms, you are kind beyond reason and I salute and celebrate you for that today! Happy Mother’s Day!
Much love from me
