RSA Lockdown // Season 2 // Day 1 // 17 April
Today should have been the first day AFTER the lockdown, but rather it is the first day of the extended lockdown. Season 2 if you like. I hope these thoughts on who Jesus is encourage you today.
Isaiah 28:16, “So this is what the Sovereign Lord says. “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed” {NIV}, and the {CSB} translation reads, “Therefore the Lord God said: “Look, I have laid a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will be unshakable.
In a building project, the cornerstone is the most important and most carefully placed stone. It provides the guidance & direction for where all the other stones should be placed. It provides the stability and foundation for all the other stones to rest on. It ensures a secure and strong structure is built. Without the cornerstone, the building would fall.
What a wonderful assurance that Jesus is our cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20). As we face another 2 weeks of lockdown and more uncertainty, confusion, anxiety and doubts, the word of God reminds us that the one who trusts in Him will not be dismayed or disturbed. They will be unshaken. (Isaiah 28:16)
We can lean on, rest in and trust Jesus at this time, our strong, stable, unshakable cornerstone.
