21 December. Day 21.
Luke 21:37 and 38 reads “37 And every day he was teaching in the temple, but at night he went out and lodged on the mount called Olivet.
38 And early in the morning all the people came to him in the temple to hear him. “ {ESV}
I am so grateful for this simple reminder tucked into these last 2 verses of this chapter today. Jesus was busy all day, and so he made the choice to go out and get away at night and stay on the mount called Olivet. He did this so that He could be rested, refreshed and ready to be back in the temple early the next morning.
I dashed out very early this morning to get to a market. I parked, headed for the stall, made my purchase and when I drove out at 7:10am, there was a long line of cars backed up along the road to get into the market. I was grateful to be heading home before the hustle and bustle really got going!
This Christmas, let us not get caught up with dashing from one event to the next. Let’s be practical and purposeful! Let’s get the rest we need so we can be ready for the work that He needs us to do!
