There are so many things which I have learnt,about so much in life, since my life-changing open heart surgery. Just last week I was reminded of the parallel’s between the spiritual transformation of salvation and the physical procedure of my heart surgery.
Due to the fact that I had developed infective endocarditis during my first pregnancy, I had to undergo this surgery and the surgeon removed a palm’s-full of infection from my heart and as this infection had eaten away at my mitral valve, this part had to be replaced with a prosthetic valve. I still looked the same, had the same voice, and was still the same person, yet so much within me had changed, and the way I see life and things in life had also changed. The same is with salvation. Although my surgery was my only choice of life, salvation is a free choice, but after making that choice, God removes all the junk, darkness, and destructive forces within us, cleansing us from the inside, and giving us new LIFE, and eternal life at that! It is life-changing! You still look the same and have the same name, yet you act differently, do things differently, talk differently, and your decisions are influenced by the freedom and grace which God has now bestowed upon you.
Life is amazingly precious and something to be celebrated…and that I do at every opportunity granted to me. My miracle daughter, Cianna Hope (Cianna means God is gracious and is pronounced See-Anna) is a constant reminder to me of NEW LIFE, and the graciousness of God. I have been given a second chance and I have chosen to live life to the full!
